That took about 30 minutes as I wanted to be sure I'd entered the frequencies and tones properly. Since its cake to hook it up, I went straight to the programming software and input as many satellites as I could. The 9700 comes with programming software. So the casual SSB,FM,D-star users will be happy with this radio, but the digital satellite, EME, weak signal folks will be less than happy with this new radio and for now should probably stick to their current setup. The Bad,looks like 9600 packet support has been dropped so no falconsat-3 reception or other pacsats ,and it drifts every time the fan comes on which is every time you transmit for a bit, not bad enough to effect voice except maybe on 23cm in SSB but WSPR and JT65B are out of the question or will be very marginal depending which band you are on, the 10Mhz ref port input on the back that everyone including myself thought was going to be a ref lock is just used for calibration. The good things, small, low power consumption in receive,beautiful touch screen display,the spectrum scope, good sensitivity, many options for pwr levels and tone control, dstar built in, 23cm built in.
